Dennis P. Gallon, Ph.D., President of Palm Beach Community College
Dennis P. Gallon, Ph.D., became the fourth President of Palm Beach Community College in 1997. Dr. Gallon began his postsecondary education career as an adjunct professor at Florida Community College in Jacksonville. Prior to serving as President of that institution’s Kent Campus, he served in various leadership positions before his tenure ended there. He earned his doctorate of philosophy in higher education administration from the University of Florida, his master of science degree in business from Indiana University and his bachelor of science degree in business from Edward Waters College.
Dr. Gallon is active in many Palm Beach County organizations, taking leadership roles on the boards of directors of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, the Northern Palm Beaches Chamber of Commerce, the Urban League of Palm Beach County, the Palm Beach County Workforce Alliance Board, and the University of Florida Alumni Board. He held the position of President of the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches for the year ended June 2006. Dr. Gallon is also affiliated with several other national, state and local organizations.
Of the numerous awards he has received, among the more recent are the “2007 Silver Medallion Award” from the National Conference for Community and Justice, the “2007 Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Urban League of Palm Beach County, “2006 Excellence in Education Award” from Toward a More Perfect Union, the “2005 Whitney M. Young, Jr. National Service Award” from the Gulf Stream Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the “Fulbright Scholarship” from the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program/Council for the International Exchange of Scholars, the “2004 Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Leader Award” from the National Association for Advancement of Colored People South Palm Beach Branch, the “Phi Theta Kappa 2003 Florida Leadership Award”, the 2003 Men of Excellence Education Award from the West Palm Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the “2002 Community Leader of the Year Award” from the Northern Palm Beaches Chamber of Commerce, and the “2002 Outstanding Graduate Award” from the University of Florida.
