Enterprise Development Corporation The Enterprise Development Corp. of South Florida is a nonprofit organization that assists emerging science and technology companies. Their mission is the development of an innovation-based economy through the creation of high skill, high wage jobs in key industries that are driving global commerce. EDC is a public/private partnership that provides strategic business development assistance to emerging science and technology-based companies in South Florida. EDC offers expertise in new product commercialization, business strategy, technology transfer, strategic alliances and preparing to raise capital funds. Assistance is provided to nearly 200 companies a year through EDC's mentoring program. EDC also manages the Technology Business Incubator located in the Florida Atlantic University Research & Development Park in Boca Raton, and produces two conferences each year to promote emerging technologies and industry/academia collaboration. Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) Program YEA! is a groundbreaking program held at the Adams Center for Entrepreneurship on the Florida Atlantic University campus. The program takes students between the ages of 11 and 18 through the process of starting and launching a real business or social movement over the course of an academic year. By the end of the class, students own and operate fully-formed and functioning businesses, which may be carried after their graduation from the program. FAU Business Plan Competition Each year, FAU holds a Business Plan Competition. Teams are comprised of FAU alumni, faculty, students (registered and not currently registered), students from other colleges or universities and members of the business community or any combination thereof. Teams have the opportunity to meet and network with experienced venture capital principals, early stage angel investors, successful entrepreneurs, and senior business leaders who will serve as judges for the competition. The competition provides an unparalleled experience for the participants providing time to interact with the judging panel to receive their valuable feedback. Teams will compete for cash prize money, legal and business services, office space at FAU’s Research Park Authority, the possibility to advance to the state and national competitions, present their business plan to local angel and VC groups and more.
