Palm Beach State College will hold its fifth annual Green Expo May 4, giving individuals and families an opportunity to learn about resources and get tips on how to become more eco-friendly.
The Saturday event, hosted by Palm Beach State’s Center for Green Construction and Energy, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Education and Training Center on the Lake Worth campus on the southeast corner of Lake Worth Road and Congress Avenue. It is free and open to the public.

The Palm Beach State College Technical Education Center received the GalaVerde 2012 LEEDership Award for Outstanding LEED for New Construction - Education Project from the U.S. Green Building Council South Florida Chapter. Built by Hedrick Brothers Construction, the two-story, 28,160 square foot building in Belle Glade, Florida was the first building constructed entirely to LEED standards for Palm Beach State College and achieved a LEED® NC 2.2 Platinum certification.  The Project Team included Astorino Architects, Cape Design Engineering, Kimley-Horn & Associates, Bliss and Nyitray, and Hanson Professional Services.

 Palm Beach State College’s Technical Education Center at the Belle Glade campus has been awarded LEED® Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.  The building, which opened in 2010, is the first in the Florida College System to achieve this highest designation for design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
