Business Resource Task Force
The Business Resource Taskforce meets approximately every 6-8 weeks for the purpose of identifying projects that the taskforce or the general membership at large would like to see undertaken. The criteria we use to evaluate projects are: they must be beneficial to membership and/or to the county business communities, they must be an opportunity for new membership and they must be unique (i.e., not available though any other county group or agency) and, while not a criteria, we strongly encourage that these projects offer our membership a sales opportunity. All projects will be conceived, planned, executed and evaluated as to their effectiveness, by a sub-committee formed for this purpose.
Cluster Chair:
Tom Wheatley
Vice President, Business Development
Flagler Bank
Sub-Committees:
Expo Sub-Committee - Group discussion brought forth several ideas that would improve next year’s event including, an emcee, keynote speaker and local TV personalities. Partnership with Chambers of Commerce and the South Florida Business Journal would deliver a wider audience. Broadening the program to include staffing, insurance, CPA’s and the like would make the event appealing to a larger segment as well.
Business Education Sub-Committee - Albert Wester, Gevity, leads a sub-committee that acts as a speakers bureau for BDB luncheons and breakfasts.
Job Growth Incentive Program Sub-Committee - A business considering creating new jobs in Palm Beach County directs their inquiries concerning the Job Growth Incentive (JGI) Grant Program to the BDB. The BDB helps local businesses or a company considering relocating to Palm Beach County or establishing a facility in this County with any questions regarding the JGI Program, including the requirements of the program and preparing a JGI application. There is a diversity of products and services provided by the JGI grant recipients. The extensive application has proven difficult for many companies to complete. A sub-committee led by RaeLynn DeParsqual has analyzed the current criteria and outlinined their recommendations and provided it to the Board of County Commissioners for consideration.
