August 30, 2019, RIVIERA BEACH - The Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (BDB) is pleased to announce that Johnson Development Associates, Inc. (JDA), a multi-division real estate developer based in Spartanburg, South Carolina, has acquired an industrial site in Riviera Beach. The company will construct a 120,282 sq. ft. light industrial building located at 1301 President Barack Obama Highway, which will have a capital investment of approximately $10 million into the local economy. The project was introduced to the BDB by Sky Groden, SIOR, Managing Director & National Director of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Miami office.

The BDB assisted the company with making the right local connections in Palm Beach County. The BDB also spoke in support of this project at city council meetings and communicated with the City of Riviera Beach throughout the approval process on behalf of Johnson Development Associates. Construction on the new building is anticipated to start in September, with shell completion anticipated during the second quarter of 2020.

Johnson Development Associates develops distribution, e-commerce, and light manufacturing facilities in strategic port-related markets, key inland transportation hubs, and primary and secondary markets possessing logistics demand and population growth. Since JDA continues to pursue strategic locations across target markets, Riviera Beach was an ideal fit with access to the Port of Palm Beach and the Palm Beach International Airport. In fact, the site is 0.60 miles from Florida’s 4th busiest container port and 2.60 miles from Interstate 95, the main Interstate Highway on the East Coast of the United States.

“Johnson Development Associates, Inc., part of The Johnson Group, is excited to announce our investment in the city of Riviera Beach,” said Josh Jones, Director of Real Estate for Johnson Development’s Industrial Division.  “The city’s pro-business environment, the site’s logistical advantages, and the demographic strengths of the region make this development a great option for companies that require new, highly functional Class-A industrial space in South Florida.”

“The demand for warehouse space in Palm Beach County is projected to grow tremendously over the next decade,” said Kelly Smallridge, President and CEO of the Business Development Board. “This new industrial building will be a great asset to Riviera Beach and will assist the BDB’s economic development efforts in attracting new manufacturing, distribution and logistics companies to the county.”

"But you know what the really good news is here?" asked Ronnie L. Felder, Mayor of Riviera Beach. "The good news is that the same plusses--location, location, location--that attracted them to Riviera Beach, are the same plusses that will find them the tenants they will seek. We welcome them to the team."
