Hedrick Brothers Construction announces that John Banting, LEED AP, Sustainable Construction Manager has received the 2013 Outstanding Community LEEDer Award from the USGBC South Florida Chapter at the Gala Verde LEEDership and Green Awards Program. Recognized as an individual who demonstrates progressive initiatives, effort and a commitment to green-building both professionally and personally, John has been honored as a professional LEEDing the way to a more sustainably built environment in South Florida. As Sustainable Construction Manager at Hedrick Brothers Construction since 2007, John has been an integral part of the team for 10 LEED projects built by the company. Palm Beach State College will hold its fifth annual Green Expo May 4, giving individuals and families an opportunity to learn about resources and get tips on how to become more eco-friendly.
The Saturday event, hosted by Palm Beach State’s Center for Green Construction and Energy, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Education and Training Center on the Lake Worth campus on the southeast corner of Lake Worth Road and Congress Avenue. It is free and open to the public.
The Palm Beach State College Technical Education Center received the GalaVerde 2012 LEEDership Award for Outstanding LEED for New Construction - Education Project from the U.S. Green Building Council South Florida Chapter. Built by Hedrick Brothers Construction, the two-story, 28,160 square foot building in Belle Glade, Florida was the first building constructed entirely to LEED standards for Palm Beach State College and achieved a LEED® NC 2.2 Platinum certification. Palm Beach State College’s Technical Education Center at the Belle Glade campus has been awarded LEED® Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
