PALM BEACH ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY TO PRESENT BUSINESS LEADER DAVID C. NOVAK WITH AMERICAN FREE ENTERPRISE MEDAL

WEST PALM BEACH — Palm Beach Atlantic University will present its American Free Enterprise Medal to David C. Novak, co-founder retired chairman and CEO of Yum! Brands Inc., on Tuesday, November 14.

The medal ceremony is set for 10:45 a.m. in the Rubin Arena of the Greene Complex for Sports & Recreation, 1100 S. Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach. The ceremony is free and open to the public. For more information, call (561) 803-2025.

Novak received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. Prior to leading Yum! Brands, Novak was president at both KFC and Pizza Hut, and held senior management positions at Pepsi-Cola Company, including chief operating officer and executive vice president of marketing and sales.

Yum! Brands is one of the world’s largest restaurant companies with over 43,500 restaurants in more than 135 countries and territories. During Novak’s tenure Yum! Brands doubled in size and established itself as a global powerhouse.

Novak has been recognized as “2012 CEO of the Year,” one of the world’s “30 Best CEOs,” one of the “Top People in Business” and one of the “100 Best-Performing CEOs in the World.”

Aside from his hard work at Yum! Brands, Novak and his wife Wendy established the Lift a Life Foundation. This foundation helps individuals in need reach their full potential through grants and programming in the areas of youth leadership development, hunger relief, early childhood education, juvenile diabetes and military family support. In addition to the foundation, Novak created a new consumer brand, OGO (O Great One!), with the mission to inspire the amazing people in our lives through joyful, personal acts of recognition that deepen relationships. He has also founded a digital leadership platform, oGolead.com, to make the world a better place by creating more good leaders. 

American Free Enterprise Day is a tradition at Palm Beach Atlantic since the first celebration took place in 1984.
