Boca Raton, Fla. – March 13, 2018 – Specialty-specific health information technology leader Modernizing Medicine® today announced that Northwell Health will begin using the gGastro enterprise Endoscopy Report Writer (ERW) at over 20 hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) in its network. Northwell Health, New York’s largest healthcare provider and private employer, has already begun implementing the endoscopy solution by gMed®, a Modernizing Medicine company, at Staten Island University Hospital with more locations to follow.
Northwell selected gGastro because it needed an enterprise endoscopy solution that would provide robust clinical reports, manage quality metrics and enable it to conduct research at its hospitals, as well as office-based endoscopy and ambulatory endoscopy centers.
Led by Dr. Larry Sherwin Miller, Northwell Health’s Division of Gastroenterology is highly regarded for its clinical, technical and research expertise in all aspects of gastroenterological and liver diseases. Northwell Health’s gastroenterology division currently employs 60 full-time gastroenterologists across the health system.
“Not only has gGastro surpassed our gastroenterology unit’s expectations, but the staff at gMed have gone well beyond being just a vendor; they have proven to truly care about our success,” said Vinson Varghese, MBBS, assistant vice president, division of gastroenterology at Northwell Health. “gMed has worked closely with us to customize the system to meet our specific needs and it really has made a tremendous impact on helping our specialists adapt to the technology.”
Varghese and his team chose to adopt the gGastro enterprise solution following extensive research and vetting. With gMed, Northwell Health’s gastroenterology division will have tools to easily track and improve key performance indicators throughout its facilities. Clinicians will also be granted access to real-time endoscopic data to help drive more informed decisions, as well as enhance the quality of care for patients. gGastro has also satisfied the extensive interfacing requirements necessary for joining Northwell’s existing information ecosystems.
“Northwell Health’s leading gastroenterology unit already provides thousands of patients with quality services, and now gGastro can help Northwell’s physicians to provide intelligent care with the latest technology,” said Dr. Arnold Levy, advisor to gMed. “We look forward to working with Northwell Health to help its providers further engage with their patients and improve their own performance.”
If interested in experiencing first-hand how gMed’s enterprise endoscopy solutions can help your practice, the gMed and Modernizing Medicine team will be at the GI Roundtable from March 16 – 17, 2018, in National Harbor, Md.
