PALM BEACH GARDENS MEDICAL CENTER APPOINTS NEW ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR OF CARDIOVASCULAR SERVICES

June 4, 2019 - Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center congratulates Sharmila Perez on her new position as administrative director of cardiovascular services. In this role, Perez will be responsible for overseeing the dedicated care of patients with cardiac health conditions.
 
“Sharmila has a very strong background in both cardiac medicine and cardiac surgical care,” said Teresa Urquhart, CEO. “Her expertise will benefit our cardiac program and continue to enhance Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.”
 
Prior to her appointment, Perez served as the director of the cardiac catheterization lab at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.   In her role, Perez provided clinical leadership for the cardiovascular service line and helped launch multiple programs at the hospital, including the transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedure, Mitra Clip, and the Watchman program. 
 
Perez holds an Associate of Nursing degree from Palm Beach Community College before earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University. 
 
Perez is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the Florida Nurses Association and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center’s Emergency Department offers all private rooms and is equipped with technology to help increase patient comfort, reduce wait times and provide up-to-the-minute patient status, as well as immediate access to film-based radiological images, interpretations and related data.  The hospital’s Epilepsy Program is the first of its kind in Palm Beach County to have a dedicated Epilepsy Monitoring Unit for patients in need of further assessment. 
 
Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center has been recognized by The Joint Commission as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for four years in a row and by Healthgrades® as a Five-Star Recipient for the Treatment of Heart Failure for 10 consecutive years (2007-2016).
