BDB HOSTS SMALL BUSINESS INNOVATION RESEARCH PROGRAM

Published Wednesday, August 28, 2019

The Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (BDB) hosted the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, a highly competitive program that encourages domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development (R/R&D) that has the potential for commercialization. Through a competitive awards-based program, SBIR enables small businesses to explore their technological potential and provides the incentive to profit from its commercialization. By including qualified small businesses in the nation's R&D arena, high-tech innovation is stimulated and the United States gains entrepreneurial spirit as it meets its specific research and development needs.

The BDB, in collaboration with a group of local entrepreneurial support organizations including FAU Tech Runway, Palm Beach Tech, SBDC, and the Research Park, brought the SBIRs workshop to Palm Beach County to support growth of home-grown life sciences start-ups.  Participants includes experienced entrepreneurs, new start-ups, and 8 academic researchers from local academic research organizations, such as Scripps and FAU, who seek to learn more about how this powerful source of non-dilutive funding can help fund research for early-stage life sciences companies in Palm Beach County. Thank you to EisnerAmper for sponsoring lunch.
