The Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (BDB) and the Town of Jupiter are pleased to announce the relocation of Beacon Pharmaceutical (beaconpharmaceutical.com), a focused early-stage life sciences firm, to Jupiter.  As part of Beacon’s move to Jupiter, the company will build a state-of-the-art life sciences accelerator and biologics synthesis facility to support up to 50 companies in which the firm plans investments. This new headquarters will be a building up to 200,000 sq. ft. in Jupiter, creating an estimated more than 137 new jobs with a capital investment of approximately $80 million.  Beacon Pharmaceutical originally planned to house the project in New York City.  Through proactive outreach by the BDB, Beacon Pharmaceutical decided to consider Palm Beach County.

The BDB convened 10 technology giants representing nearly 7,000 jobs, local college and university leaders, the School District of Palm Beach County, and CareerSource Palm Beach County for the Academic Leaders Council meeting. The council, comprised of Palm Beach County’s academic leaders, works to strengthen business and education partnerships. The meeting focused on how to ensure students are learning the skills needed to fill jobs within some of Palm Beach County’s largest technology companies. The BDB invited companies that have recently expanded their workforce, are in the process of expansion, or have plans to expand within the near future. The group explored partnerships and the possibility of building new technology programs together.

Summer interns from across the Nation learned about Palm Beach County’s economy in the Business Development Board’s boardroom. The first-of-its-kind “BDB Lunch and Learn Intern Series” invited summer interns from BDB member organizations to gain a fresh perspective on the area’s business climate. The event included interns from companies such as BDO, Belcan, Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, Colliers International, Garcia Stromberg, Greenberg Traurig, HBK CPAs & Consultants, Holland & Knight, Kimley-Horn, NAI Merin Hunter Codman, Oxbow Carbon, Palm Beach County, SBA Communications, Sharp Communications, Verdex Construction, and Wells Fargo.
