Economic Development Growth in Palm Beach County

As the nation continues to combat COVID-19, the Business Development Board is still facilitating corporate relocations and expansions in Palm Beach County.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Since October 2019, 21 companies have relocated or expanded, creating 2,037 high salary jobs, bringing a capital investment of $61,310,000 to the local economy. These companies occupy a total of 515,000 sq. ft. of commercial / industrial space. In addition, the BDB is currently working deals that could bring hundreds of additional jobs to the County this summer.

The latest relocation, NaturEner USA, LLC, was announced to BDB members just two weeks ago.

ABOUT THE RELOCATION:

  • Relocating its international headquarters from San Francisco to Palm Beach Gardens
  • Opening a new 15,000 sq. ft. office
  • Creating 30+ jobs locally
  • Deploys clean energy solutions in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner
  • The new facilities will include one of the most sophisticated grid control rooms in North America

Corporate Relocation and Expansion Announcements Since October 2019:

GROWTH

In addition to this activity, the BDB is getting a lot of inquiries from companies in New York wanting to relocate to Palm Beach County. These are primarily financial service firms, hedge funds, and CEOs that are quickly learning that they don’t need to be on Wall Street to do business now that the world has gone virtual. Our local private schools have seen new admissions traffic from the Northeast and the real estate market has remained strong.

Here are some data points just from the month of May for Palm Beach, courtesy of Tina Fanjul Associates:

  • The month of May had a large increase of contracts in Palm Beach
  • Nearly $200 million in sales just from single-family homes
  • Total sales in condos and co-ops came to more than $29 million
  • “Billionaires Row” had a sale that exceeded $47 million

BDB Launches New "Invest Local' Campaign

The BDB unveiled a collaborative, multi-platform campaign to create awareness about the vital importance of supporting local businesses. In an effort to generate support for local businesses and help bolster Palm Beach County’s “recovery economy,” a 40-foot banner was installed on the west wall of its West Palm Beach headquarters at 310 Evernia Street that encourages businesses and citizens to buy local, meet local, eat local, stay local, play local, dine local, etc. Created by BDB chair and advertising/PR expert Carey O’Donnell, it’s designed to be adapted to multiple platforms by the campaign partners, including as an addition to email signatures, websites, social media pages, newsletters, posters, and more.
